After seeing Blue Majik everywhere on Instagram, I knew I had be part of the craze. I gave in and ordered the ridiculously expensive, yet irresistible aqua blue powder. If you’re wondering what Blue Majik is, I had to do some of my own research to find out as well! Blue Majik is a phycocyanin (PC) extract of Spirulina, which is a blue-green algae. PC is a pigment protein that acts as a colouring agent giving Blue Majik its light blue colour. Blue Majik, similar to Spirulina, is chemical-free, vegan (duh), and contains no additives or preservatives. In fact, Blue Majik may be anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective.
Personally, I love that you can add this powder into almost anything: smoothies, chia puddings, and even pie! Now for the recipe…
Ingredients (serves 2-3)
3 chopped frozen bananas
1 cup chopped frozen mango
½ cup unsweetened almond milk (or any non-dairy beverage)
1 1/2 tsp Blue Majik
Square Bar Organics
Take the frozen bananas and mango out of freezer and allow to thaw for five minutes.
Add the mangos and bananas to a high-speed blender while adding almond milk as needed.
Blend until a smooth consistency forms.
Add in the Blue Majik powder. Blend.
Once the Blue Majik is completely mixed into your smoothie, scoop the mixture into a bowl, add toppings, and enjoy!
